Donate to the WK Foundation
Our Lady of Loreto & St Winefride Catholic Church Fundraiser

We, at Our Lady of Loreto and St Winefride in Kew, are fundraising for the WK Foundation this Lent!

Why we chose
the WK Foundation

Several factors stood out in choosing the WK Foundation:

  • Its focus on transforming lives by helping disadvantaged young people into paid employment

  • A specific and time-critical need to fund training for the next group of trainees

  • A strong commitment to supporting those most at risk of exclusion from work

About the WK Foundation

The WK Foundation, working alongside its social enterprise pizza restaurant and catering business (Well Kneaded), supports disadvantaged young people aged 18–30 in south London who face multiple barriers to employment. Beneficiaries include young people who:

•   Have grown up in care

•   Are living in hostels or vulnerable housing (e.g. YMCA)

•   Have experience of the criminal justice system

•   Have learning difficulties, low confidence, or poor mental health

Through its NOURISH programme, WKF provides practical hospitality skills alongside life skills such as confidence-building, CV writing, and one-to-one mentoring — enabling trainees to secure and sustain employment.

The charity was founded in 2023 by husband and wife Laurence and Bridget Callaghan and is based in Earlsfield, south London.

How the funds will be used

Our aim is to fund a “St Winefride’s cohort” of 8-10 trainees through the NOURISH programme. NOURISH runs over 15 months, twice each year, and combines hands-on hospitality training with personal development and mentoring.  Indicative costs are:

- £1,875 - funds one trainee through Phase One

- £11,250 - funds a full cohort of eight trainees through Phase One

- £7,000 - funds one trainee through the full programme (15 months of training) including Phase One & Phase Two
