pizza van, youth employment and a pizzeria
Well Kneaded, founded in Wandsworth in 2011, is a social enterprise, headed up by husband and wife team Laurence and Bridget. It combines an obsession with sourdough pizza, with a vision to bring transformation to young folk from marginalised inner-city communities through employment, encouragement and training. Over the past seven years, we have partnered with churches and charities to develop an internship that helps young people to prepare for more full-time work in the world of food. Many have been offered permanent jobs at Well Kneaded.
We started trading at Kerb markets and pizza parties with our vintage pizza van, Wendy, back in 2011. It was after our mobile pizza oven pop up at the Doodle bar in 2014 that we had the crazy idea to grow from the world of street food to a bricks and mortar site. Three years and many fully catered parties and weddings later, we are really excited to be able to serve our sourdough pizza, salads and sides six days a week at our first Pizzeria in Earlsfield.
At the heart of our menu is some seriously delicious (award winning) British-inspired sourdough pizza, cooked Neopolitan-style. Our flavour-filled salads, sides and desserts, served both in our Pizzeria or at your pizza event, are inspired by the British seasons, and enjoyed best with a glass of our biodynamic wine or lovely London beer.
Sustainability is part of our DNA here at Well Kneaded so everything you eat and drink has been carefully thought about. British organic veggies and high welfare meat and dairy also pack a serious taste punch. Any packaging we use is made from recycled materials.
Our food has consistently featured in Time Out, ES magazine & Observer Food as one of the ‘Top 10 street food in London’.
We have a small but excellent team here at Well Kneaded.
